Raisin Bread
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups of milk
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 packages active dry yeast
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup softened margarine
- 1 cup raisins
- 8 cups flour
- 2 tbsp milk
- 3/4 cups white sugar
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Directions
- Warm milk in saucepan until bubbles, then allow it to cool.
- Dissolve yeast in warm water until frothy. Mix in eggs, sugar, butter or margarine, salt, and raisins. Stir in cooled milk. Add flour to make stiff dough.
- Place dough in greased bowl and cover until it doubles.
- Roll out onto floured surface 1/2 inch thick. Moisten with 2 tbsp milk. Mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle on top. Roll up, cut into thirds and tuck ends. Place into greased 9x5 pans and lightly grease top of loaves. Let rise for 1 hour.
- Bake at 350 F for 45 minutes or until loaves are brown and sound hollow when knocked. Remove from pans and brush with melted butter. Cool before slicing.
