Cheesy Chile Broccoli



  1. Preheat oven to 500 F.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, combine the broccoli, salt, and 1/2 cup water.
  3. Cover and cook for 6 to 8 minutes.
  4. Transfer the broccoli to a bowl and set aside.
  5. Wipe the skillet.
  6. In the same skillet over medium heat, warm the oil.
  7. Once the oil begins to shimmer, stir in the red chile flakes and cook for 30 seconds.
  8. Add the garlic, return the cooked broccoli to the pan, and stir to combine.
  9. Transfer the broccoli to a shallow 8- or 9-inch square baking pan and top evenly with the cheese.
  10. Switch the oven to broil and place the baking pan on the top oven rack.
  11. Broil for about 2 minutes.
  12. Serve immediately.
